Greek Yogurt

Most of us have heard Greek yogurt is better than regular yogurt, but do you know why?

When Greek yogurt is made, the process removes a lot of the liquid whey, sugar and lactose.  Both Greek and regular plain yogurts have about the same amount of calories, but Greek yogurt is much more nutritionally dense.  Compared to an equal amount of regular yogurt, Greek yogurt has about half the sugar and twice the protein. Be sure to grab the non-fat Greek yogurt, or you could consume more than 15 grams of fat per serving.

Most people tend not to eat plain yogurt.  You could use it as a cream substitute in stroganoff, or as a substitute for sour cream on tacos.  Here are a couple more suggestions for dressing it up a bit:

Jump start your breakfast, or try this as a snack:

8 oz. plain, non-fat Greek yogurt
1/2 cup of blueberries (frozen or fresh)
2 packets of Splenda
Never worry about over eating veggie dip!  Try this fat-free dip instead:

16 oz. plain, non-fat Greek yogurt
1 packet of dry ranch dip mix
