MY JOURNEY TO HEALTH:

In 2010, after two kids, I was 215 pounds and only getting bigger.  I felt like I was wasting my 20s being overweight (really, I was clinically obese).  I was at the point that I was going to have to buy size 20 clothes because my size 18 clothes were too tight.  I had no idea what to do or how to do it, but I knew I couldn't buy the next size up.

So, I did a lot of research on nutrition, and saw a nutritionist.  I learned the basics, but the basics don't help you lose the weight, the basics help you maintain your health.  Nothing seemed to help and I felt defeated in my diligent attempts to drop the weight.

I tried lots of different "diets," but I was never able to hit my goal.  After plateauing for a while, I would give up. Without results, I couldn't keep going on "diets" with health risks the diets posed (like kidney failure).  I kept the weight off for about a year at size 10.

At the end of 2011, I gained back 20 pounds.  I was very busy and paid less attention to my health and more attention to convenience.  The hard part about gaining 20 pounds is not the gaining, it's the losing.  Turning around and facing that 20 pounds that I slipped back into wasn't easy, but it was absolutely necessary.  To become re-engaged and convicted in my pursuit to health was harder than accepting that I was just supposed to be big forever.

I grasped my determination and searched for a way to reach my the goal weight.  I found a great health program.  I was convinced when I started the health program that I could never lose enough to get passed my plateau point, so I expected that I would similarly plateau.  I took a giant leap of faith and invested my trust and health with the program.

After 11 weeks, I reached my goal weight and I was and am wearing a size four. (*Results will vary.)  I have never worn a size four before -- ever.  I could not believe it.  After two years, I finally made it to my goal and I felt great!

In total, I lost over 75 pounds, 20 of which I lost twice.  Alongside me, through my quest, was my husband.  He lost 105 pounds (30 of which he lost twice), surpassing his plateau point too.  Together, we lost over 180 pounds, 50 of which we lost twice.

After we reached our goal, I became a health coach and am now coaching people to the same success we had.  If you, or someone you know, is ready to get healthy too, please email me at healthyandfitlife@gmail.com.
